February 10, 1992, Boston, MA - Today at Networld, MINUTEMAN announced the
new MINUTEMAN Power Master 600 "PM600". The PM600 is an advanced, true
sinewave Uninterruptible Power Supply. This new model is an intelligent
standby UPS designed to provide two-way communication for superior, total
power protection for computer networks, telephone systems and other
sensitive or critical electronic equipment against all commercial power
problems.
"The MINUTEMAN Power Master gives the user greater efficiency in areas
plagued with brownouts or low voltage," says Les Robertson, vice president
of sales and marketing. "When power is affected, the Power Master uses a
voltage boost to assure the end user of a well regulated, true sinewave
output without using the batteries."
When input voltage is between 92VAC and 103VAC the PM600 switches to boost
mode and boosts output voltage +12% while continuing to charge the
batteries. If input voltage is 92VAC or over 132VAC, the PM600
automatically switches to inverter mode and runs on the batteries
maintaining a well regulated output and automatically switches back to AC
mode when normal power returns.
"These unique features make this unit as attractive as a true on-line UPS
at the price of a standby. And is even more attractive in international
markets where standby units are less effective due to wide voltage
fluctuations," states Robertson.
The Power Master 600 can directly interface with many different computer
hardware and software applications and guarantees the user an unattended,
orderly shutdown of the computer system when commercial power is lost for
a long period. The Power Master also features a LAN communications port
for monitoring power problems.
Other features include an overload measurement in AC mode that provides the
user with lights and audible alarms when the unit is overloaded, automatic
frequency selection of 50Hz or 60Hz, excellent non-linear current
capability (crest ratio of 3:1), and automatic unit test each time the
unit is powered on.
"Faulty commercial power can cause all kinds of problems with computers,
telephone and essential office equipment. Now the user can give extra
attention to recurring brownouts and power problems with the MINUTEMAN
Power Master 600," concludes Robertson.
The MINUTEMAN PM600 retails for $649.00 with excellent distributor margins.
The PM600 is available for immediate delivery of domestic and
international models through the company's direct response toll free
number (800-238-7272) or through its distributors, dealers and VARs
nationwide.
Para Systems is a privately held company founded in 1982. The company is
known as a leading provider of uninterruptible power supplies, used
largely for microcomputers, minicomputers, cash registers/P.O.S. systems,
and office telephone systems. Para Systems also manufactures automatic
voltage regulators and shutdown software for every available operating
system.

February 10, 1992, BOSTON, MA - Expanding its depth in the Uninterruptible
Power Supply market, Para Systems. today introduced the MMlKCP (lKVA)
on-line uninterruptible power supply and reduced pricing on all on-line
units (500VA to 10KVA).
According to Vice President, Les Robertson, "this new unit is ideal for
power users on networks who are prone to frequent brown-outs in industrial
areas because it requires only 80 volts AC input to maintain 120V +/-2%."
"Power users on networks need this type of UPS in order to protect their
file servers," stated Robertson. "This is the ultimate UPS for LANS in
terms of its technical features and small footprint."
The MMlKCP is an advanced, true on-line UPS with Auto Static Bypass Switch,
which provides reliable, well regulated transient-free AC power for all
sensitive or critical equipment. Added Robertson, "because they are true
on-line systems, conditioned computer grade power is provided continuously
to all connected equipment, regardless of input power conditions. Unlike
standby power supplies, when commercial power is interrupted, unit output
power remains constant with no power transfer, hence no transfer time is
required.
The MMlKCP features excellent load handling capability for both linear and
non-linear (switch mode) equipment. The unit will handle linear loads with
a power factor as low as 0.8 rated KVA load and switch mode loads with a
crest factor ratio of up to 3:1.
The system Static Bypass Switch (SBS) provides filtered bypass power in
case the unit becomes overloaded. SBS switching is accomplished in phase
with no interruption, and the SBS will transfer back to system operation
when the overload condition is removed automatically. In addition, when
the system is turned on the SBS will check for overload and check the
inverter, if both are stable the SBS automatically switches to inverter
and the whole process is shown on the LED panel.
Features include a small footprint and very low noise level to easily blend
in an office environment. The front panel contains a one touch on/off
system power control, and LED's to provide the user with input power and
system status. A soft audible alarm notifies the user every four seconds
when commercial power fails, when only 2 minutes of battery reserve remain
before the unit reaches low battery cutoff.
MMlKCP is available for immediate delivery of domestic and international
models through the company's direct response toll free number (800
238-7272) or through its distributors, dealers and VARs nationwide.
With the introduction of the MMlKCP MINUTEMAN is reducing its pricing
across the board on all online models (500 to 10KVA).
"As MINUTEMAN continues to offer the most complete line of uninterruptible
power supplies we also want to offer the most competitive pricing on the
market. We want the customer to know that MINUTEMAN will have the products
they are looking for at the most competitive prices available," concludes
Robertson.
